RIO BRASS
Musicians
During lockdown Rio Brass was able to collaborate with Jagermeister on the production of a video clip that combined musicians and music of different continents. With an arrangement written specially for the video, Gabriel Dias was able to invite musicians from the UK, Brazil and the USA to come together and perform a song that combined a very popular Brazilian hit ”Invocada” with “Don’t Stop Me Now”. We all miss playing on live events but having had the chance to perform together online was very gratifying.
Rio Brass was founded in 2018 with the intention of honouring the tradition of Brazilian carnival blocos. Every year thousands gather in Rio de Janeiro streets to celebrate carnival and to listen and party to the music of the many different street bands that the city has to offer. With that in mind, trumpeter and founder of Rio Brass, Gabriel Dias who is originally from Rio and has studied music at the Juilliard School in New York created the brass band by arranging and rehearsing popular songs from all over the world. Rio Brass performs regularly in the UK for corporate events, weddings, festivals, birthday parties and others. Some of the different venues that the band has already performed in London include the Wellcome Trust and it has also made its international debut in Capri, Italy and Toulouse, France. In the coming year the band will be performing in New York, UK and Brazil. Rio Brass has the mission to honour the Bloco tradition of celebrating life with music. Viva o Carnaval!
